Where We Work
Urban Slums
Nairobi, Kenya
Kibera Slum
Kibera is a short walk away from Nairobi, a modern metropolitan area. It is a massive slum with over 408,000 permanent residents, with the majority having no access to clean water.
There are only 78 latrines in the entire slum for the hundreds of thousands of residents. As a result, common water sources are contaminated with human waste. Families in Kibera earn $26 per month. Sewage runs freely throughout Kibera and often infiltrates homes in the area.
In conjunction with our partners at The Bucket Ministry, 408,000 people now have fresh, clean drinking water and have heard the Gospel. Kibera will move into the long term follow-up phase in 2025.
Kawangware Slum
Neighboring slum to Kibera. Our partner, The Bucket Ministry, completed the Assessment phase of this project in December 2024. 661,885 people live in Kawangware in 152,597 households. Virtually none have access to clean water. Average income in Kawangware is $29 per month. 10 different tribes compose the population with eleven languages spoken, Swahili is the predominant language.
This project will cost an estimated 8 million dollars to complete and will begin in January 2025 with a projected completion of 2029.
