Where We Work
Playa Roja
Panama
Thanks to the generous partnership of The Fisherman’s Church in Virginia, The Filter Project was able to complete a special, one-time pilot initiative in the remote coastal village of Playa Raja, nestled in northeast Panama. This small fishing community is home to the Ngäbe people, a formerly unreached people group now beginning to hear and respond to the Gospel.
During this project, TFP was honored to serve alongside Pastor Leonardo, a faithful local leader eager to see both the physical and spiritual health of his community strengthened. We provided hands-on training in the use and maintenance of Sawyer water filters, walked him through best practices for follow-up visits, and introduced him to our Sparrow data collection system; helping ensure every filter is tracked and every home is cared for over time.
While this pilot is not part of an ongoing project, it was a beautiful opportunity to encourage and equip indigenous leadership for long-term impact, leaving both clean water and the hope of Christ in this remote corner of the world.
