It’s been a short four months since the idea of The Filter Project was hatched. While we’ve made significant strides, we know there is still much more to do. Our primary objective of this trip was to review and fine tune local field operations with The Bucket Ministry team. We observed all aspects of the methodology which consists of 5 parts:

1. Assessment

2. Ticketing

3. Distribution

4. Follow-up

5. Discipleship.

Today we attended the distribution event,  where filter usage and maintenance was demonstrated. Attendees were taught about waterborne illnesses, sanitary water practices, and overall hygiene.  Clean water is not only critical for drinking but also for food handling and bathing.  This helps to prevent any contamination as well as any skin diseases or conditions that can come from unclean water.

During the distribution event, the gospel is shared using the illustration of dirty water becoming clean water.  This was followed by local TBM team members spending time with each family collecting health and spiritual data, taking individual photos, and connecting the GPS tracking system to each filter. Finally, each family is given medicine treat any existing waterborne illness.

Prior to the workday starting, there was a short time of worship with a devotional for the entire TBM team.  One of today’s songs was especially timely.

See what the Lord has done.

See what the Lord has done.

What we’ve waited for, has come to pass,

See what the Lord has done.

It is truly amazing to see what the Lord has done and continues to do through The Filter Project. Today, in conjunction with our partners at The Bucket Ministry, 400 filters were distributed to 400 families with a total of 1,880 individuals. Fifty-six people stood and prayed to receive Christ today. Our new brothers and sisters in Christ will immediately be connected to disciple groups and local churches.  All families in attendance today will receive 2-3 follow up visits in the coming weeks to review their filter usage, troubleshoot any issues, share the gospel, and minister to the family. Once someone comes to Christ, they are baptized and connected to a local home church/discipleship group. They are also provided with a bible in their native language or a solar powered audio bible where necessary.

Among all the wonderful experiences we’ve had so far this week, we’ve learned that this process works and the need is great. The local team members here are the hands and feet of Jesus – observing the needs of those around them and giving what they are able to. A gift of $53 helps us provide more filters, medicine, and discipleship to these communities. Join us by sponsoring a filter today!
