Jambo!
We made it to Kenya! We landed a little after midnight on Tuesday and arrived to our hotel just before 2:00 AM. Our bags (and our filters) made it and we are so thankful for a relatively smooth travel day.
Sleep is not easy because of the jet lag and time change. The weather here is rather mild, in the mid 70s, which is a huge blessing as we will be outside virtually all day everyday over the next nine days. The Kenyans are all bundled up in scarves, hats and winter coats as if they are about to freeze. They can’t believe we love the temperature here!
We had a quick nap, a good shower, breakfast at our hotel and hit the road for our first full day in Kenya. We began our day with worship and devotional time with our partners at The Bucket Ministry (TBM).
Next, we walked throughout the Kibera slum and visited with a number of families . We really enjoyed meeting them and hearing their testimonies about how clean water has impacted their lives.
More than just clean water

Clean water means no more waterborne illnesses and greater nutritional, educational, and economic outcomes for individuals and communities. But it’s not just about health and wellness, it is really all about sharing the gospel and the lives that are impacted by a personal relationship with our savior, Jesus Christ.
This afternoon we witnessed the culmination of months of hard work and dedication by the TBM team and missionaries on the ground. A community celebration of baptism – and I do mean a celebration. There was singing and music and dancing and even a little shouting. What a blessing to have a front row seat to this moment in their lives. It reminds us of how great God is and what heaven is going to be like with all the nations of the world gathered around the throne of God.
Stay tuned
I can’t wait to share more about the families we are meeting, our local partners, and our travels throughout the region. Thank you for praying with us and for our new friends!
